Just got the car today and they scan the car and told me i had oil problem. The problem amd the code cleared shen i turned it back on. Is it like its not detecting the solenoid at all? 06 325i with N52 engine

Is this a bad Vanos unit? Or would a solenoid failure prevent the exhaust cam from retarding so it would be stuck in the normal position? I put them back the way they were initially and the violent shaking goes away and comes back to the initial slight shake at cold start and random idle thump/skip. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need. And could the oil leakage on top of solenoids and oil cap be a problem? Check the VANOS solenoids to see if they are dirty. Thanks, I would smoke the engine for vacuum leaks. Check the review on their website from the pros that use it. Clean might be a good idea. The mechanic is saying that there was no vacuum leak anywhere, but that both solenoids needed to be replaced as well as the entire valve cover assembly and is billing close to $1900 for the repair. The exhaust solenoid had both the O ring and the spacer. Should hold steady. When your engine doesnt start youll want to check the basics. I just thought as the double vanos systems are in some of the 6 cylinders too you may have come across these faults. Basically if you find the cause please post your resolution. Swapped coil with another cylinder and code followed. You need to use a scan tool and fuel trim to test for a vacuum leak. it doesn't matter if hot, cold, driving for 15 minutes or 3 hours. - I unplugged the intake solenoid exhaust plugged and drove for 300meters. My OBD-II scanner is reading P1554, I'm planning on replacing the solenoids. Hasn't thrown a code, started with new plugs and coils and attempted to clean the MAF sensor but it loks like it may be slightly corroded pitted. You didn't mention what vehicle you arr working on. Im clean both VANOS solenoid and VANOS filters as well and still the same, The chain doesn't stretch as much as the plsstic guides wear.
